Join me at the White Horse Tavern at 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Douglassville, PA, on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 7 p.m. for my Mysterious Petroglyphs of Safe Harbor presentation hosted by the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology Chapter 21.
I will be recounting my expeditions down the Lower Susquehanna to explore the mysterious Native American petroglyphs hidden on the ancient river at Safe Harbor. These 1,000-year-old rock carvings represent the oldest human-made artifacts in Lancaster County and one of the most significant archeological sites in the northeastern United States. I will discuss their significance, possible meanings, and some local legends surrounding the pictographs.
This program is free and open to the public. It is perfect for adults and older children who love to explore or enjoy local history. I will have free Uncharted Lancaster stickers, magnets, and wooden nickels for those in attendance, plus replica arrowheads for the kids. I hope to see you there.
