Side Quest: Survey the Ruins of Mill Creek

Advertisements

These crumbling foundations were once part of an old mill found along the aptly named Mill Creek. You can find these ruins less than a half-mile upstream from Lock 12 on the Mason-Dixon Trail in Lower Chanceford Township, York County. They are perfect for exploring.

According to Bob Frutiger, these are the remains of the Stokes vertical sawmill and shingle mill. Mr. Stoke’s daughter, Katherine Drenning, lived on site as a recluse for many years.
