In August YouTuber Topo Ranger and I enjoyed a perfect day on Lake Aldred, searching for petroglyphs. Armed with two diagrams from Donald Cadzow’s 1931 archeological report, we journeyed to Little Indian and Big Indian Rock to experience the rock carvings ourselves.
We were not disappointed. In fact, we were able to uncover a couple of carvings near the waterline caked with mud.
Unfortunately, Cadzow was unable to identify the pictographs I’ve highlighted in the photographs above. However, the first image is, without a doubt, a four-legged animal. Perhaps a squirrel. What do you think?
