Answer to the March Mystery Tool Revealed!
Jennifer Royer, museum curator at Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, says this is a leather draw gauge, 5.75” long, with a brass-and-wood handle and a 5.5” sliding iron measuring bar, used to cut strips of leather. In 0.0625”- high, bold letters, the word “I. ADAMS” is engraved, and underneath, in non-bold letters, “PHILADA”.
