History, local legends, and a little friendly competition come together at Historic Rock Ford on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for a free afternoon of History, Lore & Trivia with Adam Zurn and Benton Webber.

A colorful illustration promoting a History, Lore & Trivia event at Historic Rock Ford on October 18, 2026, featuring a winding river, historical soldiers, and fishing scenes, with the years 1776 and 2026 displayed.

The event begins with my presentation, Legendary Tales from the Mighty Susquehanna, followed by Benton Webberโ€™s Revolutionary Lancaster Quiz Bowl.

Legendary Tales from the Mighty Susquehanna

Flowing through Lancaster County is one of the oldest rivers in the world, a waterway rich with history, mystery, and stories passed down through generations.

From 2 to 3 p.m., Iโ€™ll explore the hidden geography and fascinating folklore of the Susquehanna River. The presentation will feature lesser-known historical accounts, remarkable people and places, and enduring local legends connected to the river and the communities along its banks.

Youโ€™ll hear tales of the elusive albatwitch, Lancaster Countyโ€™s legendary miniature Bigfoot, as well as the mysterious Susquehanna mermaid and other stories inspired by the mighty river.

Revolutionary Lancaster Quiz Bowl

Following the presentation, Manheim Township Historical Society president Benton Webber will take over from 3 to 4 p.m. for his Revolutionary Lancaster Quiz Bowl.

Guests will compete in teams of four, answering questions in a traditional Quiz Bowl format. The Rock Ford Barn will be arranged with four seats at each table. Simply select a table when you arrive for the presentation, and the people seated there will become your Quiz Bowl team.

Bring three friends and form your own team, or join a table and meet some fellow history enthusiasts. Either way, prepare to put your knowledge of Revolutionary-era Lancaster to the test!
