In the News: Exploring Lancaster’s Lost Tourist Trolley

In February, YouTuber Caleb Britton from Classy Whale accompanied me on a hike down a section of the Conestoga Trail in Martic Township between the Martic Forge and Colemanville. Our quest was to find any remaining evidence of Lancaster County’s quirkiest light rail transit—the Pequea Trolley.

It was a 12.5-mile route from Millersville to Pequea owned by the Lancaster and York Furnace Railway. It provided inexpensive transportation to one of Lancaster County’s premier tourist destinations until the Great Depression brought it all to an end.
