For 214 years, generations have lived and died in Marietta, leaving behind a history filled with strange happenings, dark mysteries, and stories that refuse to stay buried.

This October, join retired history teacher and longtime Marietta resident Jeffrey Hudson for a special Halloween History Hike through the streets and alleys of one of Lancaster Countyโ€™s most historic river towns.

Over roughly two miles, Jeff will mix Marietta history with some of the townโ€™s strangest tales, unexplained happenings, murders, ghosts, and legends.

On the Halloween History Hike, youโ€™ll:

SEE the house where reporters questioned Nellie Noll, the infamous River Witch of Marietta, about her alleged role in the notorious Hex Murder of Nelson Rehmeyer.
HEAR the eerie story of how a mysterious spirit tried to enter young Bob Shankโ€™s bedroom.
FIND OUT about the murder of a young woman at the Accomac Inn, why her body was buried in Marietta Cemetery, why it was later dug up, and why today it can no longer be found.
DISCOVER the secrets surrounding Rooms #6 and #9 at the historic Railroad House.

And those are only a few of the stories waiting along the way.

The hike will still explore Mariettaโ€™s rich history, but for this special October edition, expect the darker, stranger, and more mysterious side of the borough to take center stage.

Whether youโ€™re a history buff, a ghost-story fan, or simply someone who enjoys discovering the unusual stories hiding in familiar places, this is one Marietta history hike you wonโ€™t want to miss.
