The history of Martic Township as recorded in the '1875 Historical Atlas of Lancaster County.' For example, the text states that Martic Township was settled by an industrious and enterprising class of citizens who prospered in both the areas of agriculture and general business. However, the township was initially organized under the name of Martock and was among the first legally established in Lancaster County. During one of my visits to Muddy Run, I had the opportunity to examine these concrete pillars. They once supported a large-diameter pipe that transported water from a dam to the nearby C&PD railroad.
I had an eye-opening visit to @lancohistory and their incredible new exhibit, "Thieves & Vagabonds: A History of Law & Justice in Lancaster County." 🏛️🔍 From the 18th to the 20th century, it dives deep into Lancaster's legal evolution—prisons to prohibition, unraveling 300 years of history!
Is the busybody Benjamin Franklin's greatest invention? Perhaps not but the story behind it is.
In the 1970s, @sickmansmill operated as a campground. Patrons, on multiple occasions, reported seeing an eerie green light coming from the third-floor windows of the mill at night.
