Join me at the Manheim Railroad Station at 210 S Charlotte Street on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. for my Mysterious Petroglyphs of Safe Harbor presentation hosted by the Manheim Historical Society.

I will be recounting my expeditions down the Lower Susquehanna to explore the mysterious Native American petroglyphs hidden on the ancient river at Safe Harbor. These 1,000-year-old rock carvings represent the oldest human-made artifacts in Lancaster County and one of the most significant archeological sites in the northeastern United States. I will discuss their significance, possible meanings, and some local legends surrounding the pictographs.
This in-person program is free and open to the public. It is perfect for adults and older children who love to explore or enjoy local history. Come early or plan to stay late, as this is part of the MHS’s 3rd Sunday at the Railroad Station. All their facilities will be open for free tours from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., plus complimentary Trolley rides (weather permitting). It’s an afternoon of exploration and discovery not to be missed! Be sure to follow the MHS on Facebook and Instagram.
I will have free Uncharted Lancaster stickers, magnets for those in attendance, and replica arrowheads for the kids. I hope to see you there.

Happened to see an 1850 donated map on the wall at Herr’s Grocery in Millersville. All the names and businesses, drawings of local farms on it. Pretty big and impressive!
