Answer to the May Mystery Tool Revealed!
Jennifer Royer, curator at Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, says these are stones used to grind pigments into a fine powder for paint colors. Both stones a light gray marble. The bottom slab is called a Paint Stone. The round conical stone (flat bottom) is a Mulling Stone.
