High above East King Street in Lancaster, a carved face quietly watches the sidewalk below. Nestled beneath the west roof corner, the Eavesdropper is a one-of-a-kind architectural curiosity—not only in the Red Rose City, but in Lancaster County as a whole.

Constructed in the era before air conditioning, open windows were a necessity during the hot summer months. According to long-standing local tradition, this carved face served as a reminder that voices on the street could easily carry indoors. Positioned just steps from the courthouse, one can only imagine the conversations that have drifted past beneath its watchful gaze.

This wall-mounted piece is a faithful replica of that curious face, modeled from the original that adorns the historic Bausman House.

Designed as a modern architectural fragment, the Eavesdropper is meant to hang on your wall—keeping watch over a room, much as its counterpart has done for generations.
