I recently upgraded to a new phone that has LiDAR capabilities. I’ve been eager to experiment with it and decided to scan the curious carvings on Conestoga Boulevard that I’ve written about in the past.
Here’s a summary of the mystery rock. A short distance from the Conestoga River near Safe Harbor is this enigmatic boulder. It contains several curious carvings, including a pointing hand, crossed stone-cutting tools, and the profile of a human face with the date 1879 in large letters. What does it mean?

Today, I tested three different apps. I was curious if the scans would reveal any previously hidden information. I’m still experimenting with the contrast and filters to see what brings out the best details.
In the meantime, however, I would like to know which app you think provided the best results: Polycam, Forge, and Scaniverse?
