Drumore Townshipโ€™s story is one of resilience, innovation, and mystery. In this special Quarryville Library program, I will trace the townshipโ€™s participation in the Underground Railroad, spotlight its unique contributions to farming with inventions like the Drumore Sickle, highlight landmarks such as Lancaster Countyโ€™s oldest tombstone, and answer the question of why it’s calledย theย Buck, and not just Buck.

From sacred stones to industrial might, Drumoreโ€™s past is layered with meaning. The evening will also explore the folklore that lingers in its fields and streamsโ€”ghost stories passed down for generations alongside strange encounters, including a recent albatwitch sighting near Fishing Creek in 2024.

This program blends careful research with engaging storytelling, making the past both accessible and exciting. Adults and older teens are especially welcome for this evening of local history with a supernatural twist.

This in-person program is free and open to the public, butย registration is required.ย Walk-ins will be accommodated as space permits. Please registerย every personย in your group through theย libraryโ€™s websiteย or callย 717.786.1336.ย Clickย here to register.
