Are you ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime? The fourth annual Uncharted Lancaster treasure hunt returns to the Susquehanna Valley on Saturday, April 6, 2024, in the JBT and Raiders of the Golden Osprey Adventure. This exciting five-week expedition has $3,250 up for grabs, weekly cash prizes, and multiple ways to win in what promises to be my most thrilling treasure hunt yet!

In an adventure worthy of Indiana Jones, players will explore Lancaster and Lebanon Counties on this quest for fortune and glory as they race to uncover the Golden Osprey—a fabled treasure hidden two millennia ago when Phoenician explorers discovered the Susquehanna.
🥇 First Place: The first team to complete the adventure drags away a nearly 30-pound coin-laden loot crate filled with $1,500 in one-dollar coins.
🥈 Second Place: The runners-up receive a fantastic 19-pound chest with $1,000 in one-dollar coins!
🥉 Third Place: The adventure isn’t over for the bronze medalists, who take home a hefty 11-pound cache of $500 in one-dollar coins!
🏆 Honorable Mention: The team with the highest score on the leaderboard (and not among the first three Golden Osprey finders) walks away with a nearly six-pound box of $250 in one-dollar coins.

How to Play
Playing is simple.
- Register your team.
- Purchase your treasure diary.
- Check Uncharted Lancaster’s website every Saturday at 9:30 am beginning April 6, 2024, for that week’s set of challenges.
- Solve the weekly riddles and decipher the clues to unlock segments of the treasure’s GPS coordinates.
In this exciting game of skill, participants will be unable to find the Golden Osprey until the final set of clues is released on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m.

What to Expect
The JBT and Raiders of the Golden Osprey Adventure will have a format similar to the last two years. Participants will be solving weekly riddles to sleuth locations to visit in Lancaster and Labanon Counties. Completing this adventure will require participants to have some knowledge of local history, the ability to solve puzzles, and the capacity to traverse non-level terrain. Being familiar with the Indiana Jones movies and other related films won’t hurt, either. 😉
This year, instead of a map, teams will utilize a “treasure diary”—similar to the grail diary in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade—that once belonged to Dr. W. Strong. The document offers a unique glimpse into his clandestine expedition to find the Golden Osprey. Click here to read more about Dr. Strong and his theories.

Find a Treasure. Preserve a Treasure.
Not only is this treasure hunt an exciting adventure, but it also serves a greater purpose. Proceeds benefit the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County (HPT) and LancasterHistory, with $19.99 from every treasure diary purchase going to the non-profits. Funds going to HPT will contribute to their digital archiving project, aiming to scan their 160,000 artifact collection and preserve Lancaster County’s rich architectural heritage. Treasure diaries purchased at LancasterHistory’s Museum Store will be used toward their broader mission of educating the public on the history of Lancaster County.
